Overlooking the valley of Sallanches, at the foot of the four heads, and in the slope of the land, the project is inserted.
The location of the building was determined by a protected area because a stream crosses the land and delimits the building zone. The project consists in the realization of a chalet with modern lines while remaining close to the traditional proportions and templates. The project is intended to be a balcony, open to the surrounding massifs.
The project includes a concrete basement semi-buried in the slope whose eastern end is open to accommodate a living space on the third of the basement area with an external access. On the ground floor, the living area is designed in massive post-and-beam construction, which are visible on the outside through the wood cladding. The day rooms benefit from sliding glass windows with the corner of the living room open so as to offer the landscape of Mont Blanc to the South and the Colonney head to the East. The terrace extends outside the living rooms in the same depth as the eaves, protecting the exterior from snow in winter and from overheating in summer. The staggered layout of the chalet in relation to the neighboring building limits the number of facing rooms. The play of facades opposes the full and empty between the different floors. Finally, on the east and west facades, louvers protect the high gables in the continuity of the side cladding. A glass roof on the axis of the roof on 1/3 of the facade brings a beautiful luminosity to the mezzanine and the living room. Finally, on the south roof, 6m2 of photovoltaic solar panels are proposed to produce heating energy in addition to a stove.
